I strongly believe that everyone has the capacity for change already within themselves – I aim to empower individuals towards their unique goals in ways that are meaningful to the life they want to live
Katelyn’s work and passion is centered around creating a safe space where you can feel supported and not alone in your healing journey. Everyone’s path to recovery looks different, and it is Katelyn’s goal to walk with you as you discover what this path looks like for you. Together, Katelyn can work with you towards gaining a deeper understanding of the unwanted thoughts, feelings and actions that keep you stuck.
Katelyn is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She holds a Master of Social Work Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons) in Criminal Justice & Public Policy from the University of Guelph.
In both community and clinical capacities, Katelyn works with individuals of various lived experiences. She has walked alongside youth and adults through diverse life challenges: addictions, depression, anxiety, disordered eating and body image, intimate partner violence, trauma, sexual assault, relationship/family conflict, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, Katelyn has completed post-graduate studies & training in numerous therapeutic approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and Mindfulness Based Practices. Katelyn has completed a post-graduate certificate program in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) from Wilfrid Laurier University
Each person is unique and may benefit from different approaches and Katelyn will work to find what fits best for you.
Katelyn practices from a client-centered, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework that is rooted in attachment, systems, and intersectionality theory. Her approach as a therapist is built on a foundation of safety and respect, while helping individuals recognize they are not alone when needing support. As someone with personal experience healing from trauma, Katelyn has an appreciation for how traumatic events can interfere with our capacity to hold trusting relationships with others.
Everything that you need to overcome life’s challenges is already within yourself – your strengths will be the foundation of our work together.
