Beginning therapy can be intimidating; you may not know what to expect. Amy recognizes that you are taking a major step forward and seeks to honor that by creating a warm and supportive environment where you feel comfortable speaking openly and honestly about your thoughts, feeling and experiences. With extensive experience working in addictions and mental health counselling in community settings, Amy brings her non-judgmental and empathetic approach to therapy.

Clients have often remarked on how easy it is to talk to Amy, as she is adept in quickly building rapport with people in vulnerable and crisis situations and possesses a strong commitment to working with people across a range of abilities, life situations and cultural backgrounds.

Amy is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She completed her Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Montreal and also holds an MA in political science from Memorial University of Newfoundland as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language & Literature and Philosophy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Additionally, Amy has completed a post-graduate certificate in Concurrent Disorders at Confederation College and a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Amy has training in EMDR Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT Therapy), Trauma, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and crisis intervention.
